Uttarakhand Unveils Helicopter Yatra to Adi Kailash – Travel And Tour World

In an unprecedented step forward for Hindu pilgrimage tourism, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) in partnership with Trip to Temples, unveiled the first helicopter yatra to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, marking a historic moment in making these sacred sites more accessible. This new service breaks through the barriers of season and geography, enabling a broader spectrum of worshippers to visit these holy destinations throughout more of the year.

On Monday, the initial group of pilgrims took to the skies for a scenic tour of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat. Prior to this, reaching these sacred locations was a formidable endeavor, requiring either a lengthy hike or a mix of driving and walking during a brief period from May to June or September to October. The launch day saw 18 pilgrims take off on the first helicopter flight, heralding a new chapter in the ease of reaching these sites, facilitated by Trip to Temples.

Adi Kailash, located in the stunning Vyas Valley, is celebrated as the second dwelling of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Om Parvat, bordering India, Nepal, and Tibet, showcases a natural “Om” symbol, visible solely from the Indian side. The traditional viewpoint was Nabhidang, a strenuous 11 km trek from the Old Lipu Lekh Pass.

Through a partnership between Trip to Temples and UTDB, the pilgrimage experience has been transformed. Devotees now have the option for a one-day aerial darshan of both sites, starting today. From April 15th, a five-day helicopter yatra will begin, offering landings near these sacred places to significantly reduce walking distances. Departures will be from Pithoragarh.

Vikas Mishra, CEO of Trip to Temples, expressed unwavering dedication to enhancing accessibility: “We are committed to partnering with the Uttarakhand government to make Hindu pilgrimage destinations more accessible in the region. We continuously explore ways to extend this accessibility for more time period, allowing more devotees to fulfill their spiritual aspirations.”

Byasdev Rana, a 29-year-old yatri from Odisha, shared his profound experience, noting how previous time and physical constraints had limited his spiritual journey. This initiative by Trip to Temples and the Uttarakhand government now enables him and many others to spiritually connect with Adi Kailash and Om Parvat more easily.

The forthcoming winter yatra will be a first in India, showcasing the snow-draped beauty of the Vyas Valley, Adi Kailash, and Om Parvat. It replaces the arduous trek with the comfort of all-terrain vehicles from Jyolingkong and Nabhidang, making for an easier passage through the snowy terrain. The yatra will be available from April 15th to May 1st, 2024, and will pick up again in November, extending until March.

Mishra says, “The project prioritizes community development by collaborating with local homestays in Gunji, Nabhi and Napalchhu to provide accommodation for pilgrims. Trip to Temples is managing registrations. We can reached by phone or WhatsApp at +91 8510007751 or our website for details about the Adi Kailash Yatra by Helicopter.”

This innovative helicopter yatra, led by Trip to Temples, is set to revolutionize the pilgrimage journey to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, offering spectacular views from above, comfortable travel arrangements, and a dedication to community involvement, signifying a transformative moment for Hindu pilgrimage tourism in India.
