Today marks a pivotal moment as Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) entertainment initiatives unveil the groundbreaking Masterplan for THE RIG., a pioneering and imaginative approach to adventure tourism set to transform the industry.

Aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and PIF’s strategic objectives, this project aims to bolster the tourism industry, creating job opportunities and contributing to economic diversification.

Drawing inspiration from offshore oil platforms, THE RIG. is a nod to Saudi Arabia’s rich history in oil and gas. This unique destination for hospitality and adventure will cover over 300,000 square meters, situated 40km offshore near Al Juraid Island and the Berri Oil Field in the Arabian Gulf.

Targeting over 900,000 international travelers annually by 2032, THE RIG. aims to appeal to a diverse crowd, including thrill-seekers, explorers, those seeking a balanced vacation, and relaxation enthusiasts.

THE RIG. will offer a variety of hospitality and leisure options, featuring three hotels with 800 rooms, 11 dining venues, an extreme sports park, a top-tier marina, and helicopter landing pads.

Visitors can indulge in numerous water-based activities, such as a dive center, amusement and splash parks, an E-sports hub, an immersive theater, and a versatile arena. THE RIG. will also pay homage to the Kingdom’s oil and gas legacy, offering an extraordinary experience destined to become a top tourist spot.

The Oil Park Development Company (OPDC), under the leadership of CEO Raed N. Bakhrji, with over two decades of expertise in oil and gas and a passion for adventure tourism, will spearhead the project’s development.
