Sheikha Latifa unveils the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum on May 18th, ushering in a transformative era in cultural innovation and global connectivity.
Her Excellency Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, leading the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, recently launched the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum in Expo City Dubai. The event, timed to align with International Museum Day, emphasizes the vital educational role of museums in fostering curiosity, creativity, and analytical thinking. This development adds significant value to Dubai’s vibrant museum landscape and solidifies its position as a frontrunner in cultural innovation on local, regional, and global stages.
The opening ceremony was followed by an exclusive gathering at the museum, echoing the World Expo’s themes. Here, leaders in thought delved into the significance of sustainability, technology, and culture, contemplating lessons from history while looking ambitiously toward the future.
The museum is set to open to the general public on Saturday, May 18, coinciding again with International Museum Day. Furthermore, Dubai is preparing to host the The Expo 2020 Dubai showcased impressive statistics, reflecting its global appeal and inclusive nature. The event attracted over 24.1 million visitors from 178 different countries, with more than 30.3% of attendees coming from overseas. Additionally, the Expo was a significant educational hub, hosting over one million school visits. It also prioritized inclusivity, welcoming 107,000 visits from people of determination. Beyond its gates, the impact of the Expo extended through its Expo Live program, which benefited more than 5.8 million people worldwide through various grants. (ICOM) General Conference in 2025. In celebration of its opening, Expo City is inviting guests on the 18th and 19th of May to explore the new museum and the city’s three Stories of Nations exhibitions free of charge. Additionally, all other attractions, including Alif, Terra, the Women’s and Vision Pavilions, and Garden in the Sky, are available at a 50 percent discount. Guided tours are scheduled every 30 minutes. The museum, situated in the Opportunity District, features a shop offering Expo 2020 memorabilia, opportunities to collect more country stamps in Expo ‘passports’, access to the Expo 2020 library, and meeting spaces for rent.
Starting from May 20th, the museum will be part of Expo City’s one-day Attractions Pass, priced at AED 120. There is also an option for a combined ticket, which includes entry to the Expo 2020 Museum and the three Stories of Nations exhibits, costing AED 50 for those aged 12 and over, AED 40 for children between 4 and 11 years old, and free for children under the age of 3.
