Radisson Hotel Group Sets New Standards with Launch of Diversity Week – Travel And Tour World

Boasting a workforce of over 70,000 employees from 146 different nationalities, Radisson Hotel Group is excited to introduce its inaugural Diversity Week, coinciding with the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, “Inspire Inclusion.” The goal of Diversity Week is to enhance workplace diversity, initiate impactful discussions on inclusivity, equity in career progression, facilitate conversations about gender, culture, and minority groups, and acknowledge the organization’s distinct and varied workforce as a foremost, progressive, and inclusive place to work.

In line with Radisson Hotel Group’s continued efforts to offer significant career experiences and opportunities for advancement, the organization is proud to commence its first-ever Diversity Week. The Group is earnest in its endeavor to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all as an advocate for equal opportunities. Spanning the globe with more than 1,320 properties and 15 regional offices, the company’s foundational principles of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) are vital to its operational success and ethos. The Group’s ethos, “We are many minds, with one mindset,” perfectly symbolizes the celebration of a multitude of cultures, ethnicities, genders, abilities, and age groups.

Scheduled from March 4th to 8th, 2024, the Diversity Week by Radisson Hotel Group will unite employees globally with company leaders and experts in the field. The agenda includes presentations by senior female executives on their career paths, detailed discussions on support mechanisms for career growth, strategies for eliminating bias and ensuring fairness in rewards, and ways to enhance a sense of belonging at both an individual and hotel level. Moreover, the week will witness the launch of the Group’s first Employee Resource Groups, empowering team members to actively participate in DEI initiatives. The week will culminate on March 8th with a worldwide celebration of International Women’s Day through a virtual conference.

“At Radisson Hotel Group, we celebrate diversity across all cultures, races, genders, abilities, and generations. We want to continue nurturing a culture of openness, inclusivity, and advancement for all. As the World’s 3rd Best Employer in the Travel & Leisure industry by Forbes, we truly believe that when we inspire team members to understand and value each other´s unique perspectives, we can create a better workplace and ultimately a better world together,” says Iñigo Capell, Executive Vice President & Global Chief People and Resources Officer.

As an integral part of its DEI mission, Radisson Hotel Group is dedicated to achieving equitable representation in leadership roles, aiming for a 50% female leadership rate by 2030. Presently, the Group’s leadership is composed of 32% women, including positions such as General Managers at hotels and director-level roles at the corporate office, marking a 16% increase since 2018.

To realize this ambition, the Group has launched several key initiatives. In 2023, it made significant progress in enhancing gender diversity and inclusion by creating specialized talent pools both internally and externally, aimed at identifying women with leadership potential. The initiative focusing on female General Managers led to a 30% increase in female hires for such roles in 2023, an 11% rise from the year before.

The organization has also committed to gender equality by designing clear career paths with accelerated options to ensure 50% female participation in all development and training programs. Radisson Hotel Group introduced Spotlight, a mentorship program designed to elevate female talent within the organization by pairing them with senior leaders for guidance and advocacy in their professional growth.

Additionally, the Group has reevaluated its compensation and benefits policies to address the gender pay gap and foster a more inclusive work environment. This includes progressive parental leave policies that complement local government benefits, ensuring close to 100% of the base salary for all parents, enhancing support for employees with family responsibilities.

As Radisson Hotel Group continues to grow its global presence, its commitment to being a leading employer in the hospitality sector is unwavering, with plans to introduce more innovative career development programs and initiatives in 2024.
