Tourism officials in Puerto Plata collaborate to spotlight the destination’s allure and travel appeal, aiming to elevate its prominence.
At the 24th Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE), the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster (CTDPP) and the Dominican Republic Association of Tourist Press (ADOMPRETUR) strengthened their collaboration. During discussions, CTDPP President Birgitt Heinsen and ADOMPRETUR President Yenny Lovera planned strategic actions to enhance their cooperative efforts and engage the media in achieving shared tourism goals.
As part of the collaboration, ADOMPRETUR journalists will create a cooperation strategy with CTDPP, featuring workshops, conferences, and familiarization events aimed at bolstering the Puerto Plata tourism brand.
Furthermore, Lovera confirmed that CTDPP would serve as a bridge for information exchange, special media requests, and organization of press trips, all intended to elevate Puerto Plata’s profile as a leading travel destination.
At the same DATE event, representatives from ASONAHORES highlighted the pivotal role of tourism in the Dominican Republic’s economic ascent in 2023. The sector emerged as the most vigorous segment of the national economy, marking a 10.7 percent increase over the previous year and adding $9.7 billion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
