Starting today, IndiGo Airlines has expanded its service to include Agatti as its latest destination. This development allows for daily, non-stop flights between Bengaluru and Agatti, offering travelers better options, more frequent flights, and enhanced links to Lakshadweep. Agatti now marks the 88th domestic location and the 121st in total to be incorporated into IndiGo’s expansive 6E network.
Mr. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, said, “We are pleased to commence operations to/from the Agatti island, IndiGo’s 88th domestic destination, in Lakshadweep, India’s smallest Union Territory. The launch of these new flights not only offers customers access to the unexplored beauty of these islands, but also reinforces the archipelago’s position on India’s aviation map. Direct connectivity to one of the most beautiful lagoons in Lakshadweep will play a key role in unlocking the full potential of travel and tourism in the region. As India’s leading carrier, we remain committed to delivering on our promise of providing affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences.”
Agatti Island, renowned for its breathtaking coastal views, stretches over 6 kilometers and is rich in marine life. It houses the sole runway in the Lakshadweep group, providing a vital connection between this island paradise and the mainland of India and beyond. Agatti attracts adventure seekers with activities such as deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, sailing, water skiing, and kayaking. Moreover, it’s a gateway for voyages to the untouched and peaceful neighboring islands of Bangaram, Pitti, Thinnakara, Parali-I, and Parali-II.
Enhancing the travel route to Bengaluru, India’s tech hub, opens up numerous tourist attractions including Cubbon Park, Nandi Hills, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens, Bengaluru Palace, Ulsoor Lake, and the ISKCON Temple. The region is also celebrated for its Bangalore silk, distinguished by its elegance, quality, and texture. Karnataka’s silk farms are the source of this fabric, which has achieved tremendous growth over the years, thanks to the evolving textile industry.
