Celebrating Thailand Majestic Giants Anantara Golden Triangle introduces unique Elephant massage – Travel And Tour World

Nestled within the verdant embrace of the northern Thai jungle, the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, in partnership with the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF), joyously heralds the advent of Thai National Elephant Day on March 13th. This year’s celebrations promise a grand homage to these magnificent creatures, featuring a plethora of activities including rejuvenating medical massages, a regal fruit feast, bustling craft markets, and culturally-rich ceremonies echoing the essence of Thailand.

The Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort stands as a sanctuary for 20 elephants, rescued from the urban sprawl and illicit logging camps. In collaboration with GTAEF, it serves as a haven not only for these gentle giants but also for their mahouts and families, fostering a future where tradition and compassionate care intertwine seamlessly.

On March 13th, both guests and locals are cordially invited to commence the festivities with a sacred elephant blessing ceremony at the spirit house. Following this, the elephants will luxuriate in therapeutic massages administered by elephant osteopath Tony Nevin, before indulging in a sumptuous fruit buffet. Meanwhile, at the bustling craft market, adorned with pachyderm-inspired artworks, guests can partake in a Sa paper workshop. The day will draw to a close with a meaningful environmental endeavor, as participants unite to clean up the grasslands and riverbanks, shared habitats with GTAEF’s beloved elephant companions. This act serves as a poignant reminder of the plight of wildlife amidst the scourge of plastic pollution, accentuated by the discovery of plastic remnants in elephant dung—a daily occurrence observed by the mahouts, underscoring the importance of conservation efforts.

Central to this year’s festivities is the groundbreaking ‘elephant osteopathy’ session led by Tony Nevin, a renowned wildlife osteopath renowned for his pioneering application of osteopathic techniques to alleviate musculoskeletal ailments in wild and exotic animals. Through his UK-based Zoo Ost veterinary clinic, Tony collaborates with Veterinary Surgeons to extend healing support across species, boasting an impressive three decades of expertise. His innovative approach has paved the way for workshops and courses, including the clinical component of the inaugural MSc in Animal Osteopathy in the UK and Europe, cementing his legacy as a trailblazer in the field.

Osteopathic treatment can be a boon to any creature experiencing discomfort in their body’s normal functioning. And it can be beneficial to animals of all ages, from new-borns to the elderly, across all species – because nobody is immune to musculoskeletal woes,” shared Tony.
