British Airways has announced its upcoming long-haul Avios-Only flight following the rapid sell-out of its inaugural journey in less than nine hours.
Scheduled to depart from London Heathrow on February 15, 2025, the flight will head to Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados. The return journey is set for February 22, 2025. This launch coincides with British Airways’ celebration of 70 years of service to the Caribbean island.
Travelers can secure seats on this flight starting from £150 plus 70,000 Avios. Prices for World Traveller Plus seats begin at £330 plus 135,000 Avios, while Club World seats are available from £450 plus 200,000 Avios.
The introduction of Avios-Only flights last year saw the inaugural long-haul flight to Dubai selling out across all cabins in under nine hours for travel during the October half-term of 2024.
Avios-Only flights consist entirely of Reward Seats, purchasable using Avios at fixed rates. Unlike standard flights where a limited number of Reward Seats are available, every seat on Avios-Only flights can be purchased using Avios.
Booking for the Avios-Only flight follows the standard process through ba.com, allowing members to utilize Companion Vouchers from British Airways American Express Credit Cards and Upgrade Vouchers from Barclaycard Avios cards.
Here are the pricing options:
World Traveller (economy): Avios + cash
World Traveller Plus (premium economy): Avios + cash
Club World (business class): Avios + cash
Furthermore, British Airways has released an Avios-Only return flight from London to Geneva for February 2025. The BA727 from London Heathrow to Geneva on February 22, 2024, is now open for booking, with a return flight on March 1, 2024, also available as an Avios-Only option. Seats can be booked from as little as £1 plus 19,500 Avios.
Since the initiative’s launch last year, over 30 Avios-Only flights have been offered, enabling customers to utilize their Avios for travel to various destinations such as Corfu, Ibiza, and Nice.
