Celebrate Spring Festival with magic at Shanghai Disney Resort – Travel And Tour World

Marked the commencement of the Dragon New Year at Shanghai Disney Resort with festivities kicking off with a traditional lion eye-dotting ceremony this morning. The event was graced by the presence of Mushu, Mulan’s charismatic companion from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Mulan,” alongside Disney icons Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The ceremony saw Joe Schott, the President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, performing the eye-dotting ritual on two lions, a gesture believed to awaken them and bestow the dragon year’s fortuitous energy on all attendees.

The eye-dotting ceremony is a culturally rich practice aimed at tipping the balance towards a day replete with joy and festive energy. During the Spring Festival season, which lasts until February 24, visitors to Shanghai Disney Resort are invited to dive into a celebration that marries traditional Chinese customs with the magical storytelling Disney is known for.

Adding to the seasonal festivities, from February 2 to 12, guests entering the “Once Upon A Time” Adventure will be welcomed with a Shanghainese soundtrack, specially curated for the Spring Festival. Narrated by the acclaimed local artist Pan Hong, this Shanghainese rendition has been a tradition since 2019, enhancing the magical experience of the Snow White tale during the holiday period.

Continuing the celebration into the evening, the much-loved nighttime show, Spring Festival Celebration: “Our Families,” will illuminate Enchanted Storybook Castle with stunning projections.
(The presentation of the show, Spring Festival Celebration: “Our Families,” may be modified subject to operational adjustments. The show may also be adjusted, delayed or canceled due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.)

This Spring Festival, Shanghai Disney Resort extends an invitation to all for a celebration that promises to be as majestic as the flight of a dragon, sprinkled with the enchanting touch of Disney, to be enjoyed with loved ones.
