Bahrain Imposes New Hotel Tax to Boost Tourism Revenue – Travel And Tour World

The Bahrain Ministry of Tourism has introduced a new tax for hotel accommodations across the kingdom, set to take effect on May 1, 2024. This tax will be three Bahraini dinars (approximately Dh30) per room per night.

The new policy has been communicated to travel agencies and airlines both within Bahrain and abroad, with directives to include this tax in the room rates charged to tourists.

This initiative is designed to standardize and clarify additional costs for hotel stays, improving transparency for tourists as they plan their visits to Bahrain.

The ministry expects this tax to significantly boost its revenues, estimating an annual increase of up to three million dinars in the state budget, assuming an annual hotel room occupancy rate of 40 percent.
