American Dream, a top-tier entertainment hub, has been recognized as a Certified Autism Center (CAC) by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) for its exemplary commitment to inclusivity. Seven of its attractions, including Angry Birds Mini Golf, Blacklight Mini Golf, Tilt Museum, Mirror Maze, The RINK, Dreamworks Water Park, and Nickelodeon Universe, have undergone specialized training and certification to enhance the experience for autistic and sensory-sensitive guests.
“We are very proud of this certification which recognizes our dedication to ensuring that all individuals, regardless of ability or sensory sensitivities, can fully enjoy our attractions at American Dream,” said Bryan Gaus, Senior Vice President and General Manager of American Dream. “These inclusive resources enable individuals and families to visit American Dream in a way that aligns with their specific needs more than ever before.”
The certification involved a detailed onsite evaluation to improve accessibility and the creation of comprehensive sensory guides. These guides assist visitors in understanding the sensory impacts they might encounter during their visit.
“We’re thrilled to see American Dream’s commitment to inclusivity and dedication to enhancing the guest experience for autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals. This certification not only highlights their efforts to create a welcoming environment but also sets a standard for other entertainment and destinations to follow,” said Myron Pincomb, board chairman of IBCCES.
For over two decades, IBCCES has set the standard for training and certifying professionals across educational, healthcare, and corporate sectors on cognitive disorders. The training programs, developed with insights from clinical experts and individuals with autism, aim to foster better communication and care for those with cognitive and sensory differences. Moreover, IBCCES has launched AutismTravel.com, a complimentary online platform that aids parents in locating approved facilities and experts trained in autism accommodation.
