AirAsia enhances regional connectivity by offering 3,281 weekly flights across 10 ASEAN countries, aiming to boost tourism and economic growth in the region.

AirAsia, a prominent airline in the ASEAN region, has announced a substantial increase in its flight frequencies, with 3,281 weekly flights now offered across 10 ASEAN countries. This expansion is part of AirAsia’s broader strategy to boost tourism and economic growth in the region. The announcement was made during the 57th ASEAN Day celebration at AirAsia RedQ, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia (MOFA).

Additionally, AirAsia has reintroduced its route from Kuala Lumpur to Da Lat, a picturesque city in Vietnam, with four weekly flights starting November 1, 2024. Known for its cool climate, beautiful landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, Da Lat is a significant addition to AirAsia’s network, providing more affordable travel options within ASEAN.

The increase in flight frequencies and the resumption of routes are expected to greatly enhance tourism by offering more travel choices and flexibility. This expansion will likely result in higher tourist arrivals, increased spending in local economies, and job creation within the tourism sector. To further support this initiative, AirAsia MOVE has signed a collaboration agreement with the ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA). ASEANTA, represented by its president Eddy Krismeidi Soemawilaga, has pledged support for AirAsia MOVE’s travel subscription product, the ASEAN Explorer Pass, through endorsements and outreach to member associations and ASEAN National Tourism Organisations.

In celebration of ASEAN Day, AirAsia is offering special low fares starting at RM49 one-way to various destinations, including Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Singapore, Bandar Seri Begawan, Padang, Labuan Bajo, Pattaya, Vientiane, Sihanoukville, Da Nang, and more. These promotional fares can be booked on the AirAsia MOVE app (formerly airasia Superapp) and airasia.com from today until August 11, 2024, for travel between October 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.

The ASEAN Explorer Pass, launched earlier this year, is an annual travel pass that allows subscribers to explore the entire ASEAN region through AirAsia’s extensive network of international and domestic flights. It also offers hotel discounts and ground connectivity through AirAsia Ride, providing a comprehensive travel experience for a full year from the date of subscription.

All fares are for one-way travel and include airport taxes, MAVCOM fees, fuel surcharges, and other applicable fees, subject to regulatory approval. Additional terms and conditions apply. Special fares are applicable to domestic routes in ASEAN countries outside the traveler’s country of domicile, based on passport holding.
