Air Canada steps up with fare caps, seat boost after Lynx closure – Travel And Tour World

Air Canada announced its initiative to cap fares and enhance capacity by adding over 6,000 seats on selected routes previously operated by Lynx Air. This decision comes in light of Lynx Air’s announcement to halt operations starting February 26, 2024. Air Canada’s measures aim to offer Lynx Air customers affordable travel options in the Economy class for flights within Canada, to the US, and to Cancun, Mexico. This move is designed to assist those affected by Lynx Air’s cessation in either returning home or securing alternative travel plans for their winter vacations. These special fares will be available for booking prior to February 26 for travel until April 2, encompassing the March Spring break and Easter holiday periods in Canada. All tickets can be purchased via aircanada.com or through travel agents. However, Air Canada clarifies that it cannot accept Lynx Air tickets, and advises affected passengers to seek guidance from the Canadian Transportation Agency’s website.

Furthermore, Air Canada intends to increase its seating capacity by over 6,000 seats on flights from Toronto and Montreal to various destinations including Cancun, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, from February 25 to March 19. This capacity addition is aimed at accommodating the surge in travel demand during the busy winter holiday season. Despite these efforts, the airline notes that the existing high demand means flights are nearly at full capacity, limiting the potential for further capacity increases.
